Skrill

E-Wallet for iGaming: coverage, fees, and how to accept it

E-WalletOwned by PaysafeBy the iGaming Payment Solutions Editorial Team ·

Skrill is Paysafe's e-wallet for casino and sportsbook players, with 900k+ active users and coverage in 200 countries. Skrill charges merchants 1.9-2.9% plus a fixed fee per transaction under its merchant agreement, and operators also reach it through its owner Paysafe or through Nuvei. It fits European licensees whose depositors already use Skrill, and US operators in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia, the four states where Skrill holds gambling approval. Funding the wallet is the player's cost (free by bank transfer, 0-2.5% by card, plus FX on cross-currency deposits), and a transfer from a funded wallet carries no chargeback for the operator. Skrill settles to the operator T+1 to T+3. It acquires no cards, so it sits in the cashier next to a card acquirer.

What is Skrill?

Background and how it fits the cashier

Skrill is a consumer e-wallet with a hosted Quick Checkout cashier that operators add as a deposit and payout method. Paysafe Limited (NYSE: PSFE) owns it alongside its sister wallet NETELLER, and Skrill has 900k+ active users, a figure that held for five straight quarters through Q4 2025.

Products

The Skrill Digital Wallet runs on iOS, Android and web and holds 40+ fiat currencies and 40+ cryptocurrencies. Operators use two merchant products. Quick Checkout is a hosted payment page with status_url callbacks, geo-detection that shows each player the funding methods of their country, and 1-Tap reload for repeat depositors. The Automated Payments Interface sends mass payouts and handles transaction queries and refunds. The rest of the line serves the player: Skrill Money Transfer for international remittances, the Skrill Prepaid Mastercard for EEA and UK residents only, and Skrill Crypto for in-wallet trading, the Crypto On-Ramp and the fiat off-ramp to external wallets. The VIP program runs three tiers, Silver, Gold and Diamond, which lower the player's FX markup and wallet withdrawal fees and add a free Prepaid Mastercard, so a high-volume player pays less per deposit and has a reason to stay with the casino that takes Skrill.

Key features. 900k+ active users, 1-Tap deposits, VIP loyalty tiers, iGaming focus since 2002, in-wallet crypto trading

Verticals

iGaming has been Skrill's primary vertical since the early 2000s. Forex comes second, with brokers in Cyprus, Israel and the Asian retail-FX market, and eCommerce merchants across Europe and a consumer crypto service make up the rest. 1-Tap, the VIP tiers and the gambling block serve repeat casino and sportsbook deposits, and Skrill's KYC profile and fees suit those flows more than subscription billing or marketplace payouts.

Background

2001: Daniel Klein and Benjamin Kullmann founded Moneybookers Limited in the UK, among the first companies to receive an electronic money license from the Financial Services Authority, the FCA's predecessor.

2002: PayPal left the gambling sector, and Moneybookers took on the online poker and casino operators that traditional PSPs avoided, building its product around poker, casino and sportsbook cashier flows.

2007: Investcorp bought Moneybookers, by then one of the top three e-payment providers in Europe.

September 2011: Moneybookers announced its rebrand to Skrill.

2013: Skrill completed the rename and in February bought paysafecard, the Austrian cash-funded prepaid voucher, for up to EUR 140 million.

2015: Skrill completed its purchase of UK rival Ukash in April and merged it into paysafecard. Optimal Payments, the Canadian parent of NETELLER, then bought Skrill Group for EUR 1.1 billion, putting Skrill, NETELLER and paysafecard under one owner, and in November renamed itself Paysafe Group.

2021: Paysafe listed on the NYSE through a SPAC at a $9 billion enterprise value, under the ticker PSFE.

Q4 2025: Skrill's active user count held flat for a fifth straight quarter, short of the growth Paysafe had planned, while Paysafe's wallets together reached 7.8 million active users, their highest level in 3 years.

2026: Paysafe refinanced in August with term loans maturing in 2030 and a revolving credit facility running to 2031, after carrying $2.5 billion of total debt at the half year. Its market capitalization stood at $350 million in early September, with a 52-week share price range of $5.95 to $15.02.

How Operators Accept Skrill

The PSPs that route this method at the cashier

Skrill is a payment method. Operators add it to the cashier through one of the PSPs that support it.

Operators That Accept Skrill

bet365 has run Skrill since the early 2000s and offers it for deposits and withdrawals in all its regulated markets. William Hill and 888 run it too, and all three run NETELLER next to it. Bet-at-home, Unibet and Betsson take Skrill in Europe. In the US, BetMGM and betPARX run it in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and Play Gun Lake Casino in Michigan. Nuvei offers Skrill 1-Tap as a featured APM in its checkout, and through the SoftSwiss and EveryMatrix connectors Skrill also sits in the cashiers of licensed Tier-2 and Tier-3 casinos on those platforms. Skrill takes operators licensed by the UKGC, the MGA, Curacao and other gambling regulators.

How Users Fund Skrill

Where the balance comes from before it lands at your cashier

Players load their e-wallet balance one of these ways before they deposit at your site.

  • Cards
  • Bank transfer
  • Local APMs
  • Crypto (via BitPay)
  • eVoucher rails

How the flow works

Players fund the wallet through 100+ methods: Visa, Mastercard, Maestro and some local card schemes, SEPA and local instant bank transfers, Trustly pay-by-bank, Sofort/Klarna in Germany, Google Wallet on Android, Apple Pay in some regions, paysafecard vouchers bought with cash, and BitPay deposits from external crypto wallets. In the operator's cashier all of that shows as one Skrill tile, and the funding mix behind it stays outside the cashier flow. The player picks the tile, pays on Skrill's hosted Quick Checkout page and returns, and from the second deposit 1-Tap reuses the stored credentials. Payouts go back through the Automated Payments Interface into the player's wallet. From there the player withdraws to a bank, or, in the EEA since February 2021, sends the fiat balance out as BTC or ETH, converted at withdrawal. The 40+ coins inside the wallet serve trading only: a position sells back to fiat and never moves on-chain, and the Crypto On-Ramp lets players buy coins with wallet funds.

Pricing details

Skrill's price has two sides, and the player pays one of them. The operator pays 1.9-2.9% plus a fixed fee on each wallet-to-merchant transaction, tiered by monthly volume and merchant category code and negotiated per merchant, and iGaming merchants under MCC 7995 land at the higher end of that range before negotiation. Skrill also holds a 10% rolling reserve for 180 days by default, lower for a merchant whose chargeback history earns it, and prices merchant payouts through the Automated Payments Interface separately. On EUR 500k of monthly Skrill volume at 2.9%, acceptance costs EUR 14,500 a month plus the fixed fees. The reserve on the same volume withholds EUR 50k a month and keeps EUR 300k locked once the 180-day window fills, money that comes back as the window rolls. NETELLER is free for merchants and instead charges its players 2.5% to upload under $20k. Skrill's players pay for the funding leg: nothing by bank transfer and 0-2.5% by card depending on the country of registration, with up to 1.25% across most of Europe. Voucher funding costs up to 5%, and each wallet withdrawal costs 1.75% with a EUR 3.50 minimum. Currency conversion adds a 3.99% FX markup, which falls to 2.89% at VIP Silver, 2.59% at VIP Gold and 1.99% at VIP Diamond. MiFinity charges its players 1.8% on EEA cards and a 2.99% FX markup. Because the player covers funding, the operator's incremental cost on a Skrill deposit is the wallet-to-merchant fee, which suits high-frequency depositors, while a casual depositor will not tolerate the extra wallet step. The fee does not compare with an acquirer's card rate, since Skrill runs next to the acquirer and leaves card acquiring to it.

Negotiation tips

Before you negotiate, check country by country how many of your depositors already hold Skrill, through affiliate network data, competitor cashiers and research panels, since the fee buys access to those players. Get parallel quotes from MiFinity and from Paysafe at group level, which can price Skrill and NETELLER together in one contract below Skrill alone. The reserve rate moves less than its duration, so after 6 months of clean chargeback history push for a 90-day or 120-day hold. Write notification terms for investigation holds into the merchant agreement, because Skrill sets their timeline. If you route Skrill through Praxis Tech, budget its routing fee on top of the PSP's price.

A payout lands in the player's wallet within 24 hours, and the operator's own approval step, more than Skrill's processing, sets how long it takes. MiFinity pays players on the same 24-hour clock, but a Skrill refund through the Automated Payments Interface takes 5-7 business days against 1-3 business days at MiFinity, so a refunded player waits 4 business days longer. Moving money from the wallet on to a bank takes the player 1-3 business days by SEPA or local transfer, or is near-instant through the Skrill Prepaid Mastercard in the EEA and UK. A withdrawal that trips balance-threshold re-verification can wait 2-3 days in Skrill's review queue, and a new player account clears KYC in 1-3 days at signup. Skrill settles to the operator's bank in T+1 to T+3, so a Friday deposit can reach the operator on Wednesday. MiFinity settles T+1, which puts the operator's cash in hand up to 2 business days sooner, while paysafecard settles T+14 or T+21, at least 11 days behind Skrill. Merchant onboarding for high-risk iGaming takes 3-6 weeks, longer for an operator from an unlicensed jurisdiction or without complete gambling-license documents, so a MiFinity account at 2-4 weeks or an AstroPay account at 1-3 weeks can be live before Skrill's review ends.

KYC / AML

Full autoSkrill runs its own KYC platform: ID document upload, address proof, phone and email checks, and bank or card linking. A standard player account clears in 1-3 days, balance thresholds trigger re-verification, and crypto activity adds extended source-of-funds checks under the MiCA authorization. Skrill meets AML5 requirements.

Chargeback liability

MerchantUnder Section 12 of the Skrill Merchant Agreement the operator carries chargebacks on direct card payments through Quick Checkout, debited immediately from its account, and 3DS2-authenticated payments shift liability. A transfer from a funded Skrill wallet carries no chargeback for the operator, because the dispute stays between the funding processor and Skrill. A 10% rolling reserve is held for 180 days.

Fraud prevention

ML transaction monitoring, device fingerprinting, 3DS2Real-time monitoring flags IP mismatches, device anomalies, unusual transaction velocity, ownership inconsistencies and sanctions screening hits, and a flag can hold a merchant balance for up to 180 days while the investigation runs. Paysafe Group's fraud stack backs the wallet, and card funding into the wallet runs 3DS2.

Responsible gambling

YesPlayers can block gambling payments on 1-Tap, self-exclude the wallet from gambling merchants and set deposit limits.

Compliance context

Skrill Limited has been an FCA Authorised EMI since 2018, with permissions from e-money issuance through payment initiation and account information. It holds player and merchant funds under safeguarding and must ringfence customer balances under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011, and because Skrill is not a bank, wallet balances sit outside deposit guarantee schemes. The EU business runs through Paysafe Payment Solutions Limited under a Central Bank of Ireland authorization. Since December 3, 2025, the same Irish entity has held a MiCA CASP authorization passported across 29 EEA states, which carries Skrill's crypto service. The UK crypto service runs on an FCA cryptoasset registration under the Money Laundering Regulations 2017. Skrill USA Inc is registered with FinCEN as a money services business and holds a money transmitter license in every state that requires one, New York under the NYDFS included, plus DC, Guam, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands, while Montana requires none. Its gaming supplier approvals cover New Jersey, where the NJDGE approved Skrill as the first digital wallet for internet gambling, Pennsylvania (PGCB), Michigan (MGCB) and West Virginia. Chargebacks split by payment type. Under Section 12 of the Skrill Merchant Agreement the merchant carries chargebacks, debited immediately from its account, on direct card payments through Quick Checkout, where a 3DS2-authenticated payment shifts liability. A transfer from a funded Skrill wallet carries no chargeback for the operator, because the dispute stays between the funding processor and Skrill. Separately from the reserve, Skrill can hold a merchant balance for up to 180 days while a fraud or AML investigation runs. IP mismatches, device anomalies, unusual transaction velocity, ownership inconsistencies and sanctions screening hits trigger those holds. The merchant can submit documents to rebut an investigation, and Skrill sets the timeline. Hold exposure scales with volume and chargeback rate, so operators with a clean compliance history rarely see material holds while high-risk operators with weak documentation hit them more often. Skrill runs its own fully automated KYC and adds extended source-of-funds checks on crypto activity. It is PCI DSS compliant, and players can block gambling payments on 1-Tap, self-exclude the wallet from gambling merchants and set deposit limits.

Geographic Coverage

Where the method is available to players

Skrill operates in 200 countries and holds balances in 40+ fiat currencies, and its players are densest in European retail markets: the UK, Germany, the Nordics, Greece, Spain, Italy and the Czech Republic. The US is the exception that matters for gambling. There Skrill holds gambling approval only in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia, and a US sportsbook or casino licensed in any other state cannot route deposits through it.

Regional breakdown

Europe: Skrill has served as an iGaming deposit method in the UK, Germany, the Nordics and Spain since the early 2000s, and a UKGC licensee gets an FCA-supervised wallet whose gambling block and self-exclusion tools match UKGC responsible gambling expectations. United States: a multi-state sportsbook or casino turns Skrill on state by state, in the cashiers of the four approved states only. The Skrill VISA USA prepaid card is barred from online and offline gambling even in those states. Latin America: Skrill serves players across the region but carries neither OXXO in Mexico nor Mercado Pago, so a LATAM cashier runs a local-methods provider next to it. Asia: balances in JPY, KRW, SGD, MYR, THB, HKD, TWD and INR cover the major Asian markets. Without UnionPay direct acquiring, Skrill leaves China-facing volume to another provider. Africa: Skrill serves African players but does not carry most African local methods, so an African book needs a local-methods provider for its deposits.

Integration & Tech

How the method reaches your cashier, and what is pre-built

Paysafe and Nuvei carry Skrill as a method. Praxis Tech routes to it too and charges a 0.1-0.5% routing fee on top of the connected PSP's own fee. An operator already on SoftSwiss, EveryMatrix, Slotegrator or Nuvei switches on a pre-built Skrill connector and goes live in hours of configuration. A direct build on Quick Checkout takes 1-2 weeks. The merchant posts the order, Skrill returns a session, the player pays on a Skrill-hosted page, and Skrill posts the status to the merchant's status_url, retrying up to 10 times until it gets a 200 response. The Automated Payments Interface handles mass payouts, transaction queries and refunds, and the PSD2 portal exposes only OAuth2 AISP and PISP endpoints for licensed third parties. Skrill ships no official mobile SDK for iOS, Android, React Native or Flutter, so a mobile-first cashier runs Quick Checkout in a webview or on its own wrapper. Nuvei's integration includes an SDK, and MiFinity's iFrame 2.0 cashier runs KYC inside the operator's site.

Who Is Skrill Best For?

Where this method fits, and where it doesn't

Skrill fits European casinos and sportsbooks whose depositors already hold the wallet, as an extra cashier tile next to a card acquirer. The wallet has served gambling since 2002, and a returning player deposits through 1-Tap in 1-2 seconds without card details or re-authentication, against 30-45 seconds for a card deposit with 3DS2.

Recommended for

  • European books in Skrill's core markets. Players in the UK, Germany, the Nordics and Spain have funded casino and betting accounts from Skrill since the early 2000s. When those markets carry most of your deposits under a UKGC, MGA or other European license, one Quick Checkout integration puts a wallet your players already know in the cashier. A player who deposits from it enters no card details, which lifts deposit completion against a card-only checkout.
  • US operators in NJ, PA, MI and WV. With a license in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan or West Virginia, you can offer Skrill as a non-card deposit and payout method, as BetMGM, betPARX and Play Gun Lake Casino do. Skrill USA holds the state supplier approval in each of those four states.
  • Sportsbooks with in-play betting. 1-Tap decides the reload once you offer in-play betting, because the seconds a stored-credential deposit saves turn into bets placed while the odds move. Casinos that run slots tournaments and live dealer tables with frequent reloads gain the same way.
  • Poker rooms and high-stakes books. A book that runs a poker room or takes high-stakes players should run Skrill and NETELLER as a pair. Skrill draws the European retail sportsbook, casino and slots crowd, and NETELLER draws poker, forex and high-stakes players. Both run on the same Paysafe Quick Checkout back-end, so the second wallet costs almost nothing to add once Skrill is live.

Not recommended for

  • US operators outside NJ, PA, MI and WV. Skrill holds gambling approval in four US states, so a sportsbook or casino licensed anywhere else in the US cannot route deposits through it. Trustly holds US state gaming vendor registrations and runs pay-by-bank in the US at 0-1%.
  • Operators looking for a card acquirer. Direct card deposits still need an acquirer, because Skrill is a wallet the player funds by card or bank before transferring the balance to you. Nuvei, a full-stack PSP that acquires gambling payments directly in 17 markets, charges 1.5-3.5% and carries Skrill as an APM in the same checkout.
  • Crypto-first casinos. Where crypto runs 30% or more of your deposits, Skrill adds nothing on-chain, because its coins serve in-wallet trading and the operator receives only fiat. CoinsPaid charges 0.8-1% and settles crypto to the operator instantly.
  • Books facing LATAM, India or Africa. OXXO in Mexico and Mercado Pago are missing from Skrill, which makes it the wrong wallet for a book whose players sit mainly in Latin America, India or Africa. AstroPay runs its wallet in Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Chile at 1-2.5% per deposit.
  • China-facing volume. Skrill offers no UnionPay acquiring, which leaves China-facing deposits outside its reach. MiFinity holds UnionPay Principal Member status and runs its wallet rail in China.
  • Mobile-first cashiers that need native SDKs. An in-app cashier gets no official iOS, Android, React Native or Flutter SDK from Skrill, so Quick Checkout runs in a webview or on a wrapper you build. Nuvei ships an SDK next to its REST API and hosted page.

Pros & Cons

The trade-offs of putting Skrill on the cashier

Pros

  • A deposit from a funded wallet cannot come back as a chargeback against the operator, which takes dispute exposure off that share of volume.
  • Six casino platforms and PSPs ship a pre-built Skrill connector, which cuts a 1-2 week build to hours of configuration for an operator already on SoftSwiss, EveryMatrix, Slotegrator or Nuvei.
  • Gambling block, self-exclusion and deposit limits live inside the wallet itself, which suits a UKGC licensee's responsible gambling duties.

Cons

  • A 10% default reserve held for 180 days locks EUR 300k of a EUR 500k monthly Skrill book once the window fills.
  • A fraud or AML flag can lock the merchant's Skrill balance for as long as 180 days on top of the reserve, and that exposure grows with the operator's volume and chargeback rate.
  • Settlement runs T+1 to T+3, while MiFinity settles T+1, so up to 2 more business days of deposits sit in transit.
  • Refunds through Skrill's Automated Payments Interface take 5-7 business days, and MiFinity returns one to the wallet in 1-3.
  • Casual depositors outside the VIP tiers pay the full 3.99% FX markup on cross-currency deposits and 1.75% (minimum EUR 3.50) to cash out to a bank, on top of the extra wallet step they already resist.
  • US sportsbooks and casinos licensed outside New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia cannot take Skrill, because its US gambling approvals stop at those four states.
  • Skrill carries no OXXO or Mercado Pago, so a Latin American book needs a second provider for its local rails.
  • No UnionPay membership or UnionPay acquiring rules Skrill out for China-facing volume.
  • No crypto rail reaches the operator, whether on-chain settlement or USDT and USDC payments.
  • A native app cashier runs Skrill in a webview, because Skrill ships no official iOS or Android SDK.
  • Onboarding a high-risk iGaming merchant takes Skrill 3-6 weeks and AstroPay 1-3 weeks.

Review analysis

Skrill's main Trustpilot profile rates 3.7/5 from 27,768 reviews, split 65% 5-star, 7% 4-star, 2% 3-star, 1% 2-star and 25% 1-star. That split averages 3.9, and the TrustScore sits below it because Trustpilot weights recency, frequency and replies, so recent 1-star reviews pull the headline down. The 1-star tail covers accounts frozen for KYC re-verification after a deposit, help-center replies that take over 2 weeks, tickets closed without a fix, Prepaid Mastercard delivery problems and slow handling of hacked accounts. The 5-star side praises fast transfers, an app that works, a multi-currency wallet for travel and online business, and 1-Tap deposits at casinos.

Context for operators

The rating tracks the consumer wallet, and the part of it that reaches an operator is the re-verification queue. A player whose withdrawal waits in Skrill's review contacts the casino's support, although the payout to the wallet has completed, so an operator adding Skrill should staff support for KYC and re-verification tickets.

FAQ

The questions operators ask about Skrill

Who owns Skrill?▾

Paysafe owns Skrill. NETELLER's owner at the time, Optimal Payments of Canada, bought Skrill Group for EUR 1.1 billion in 2015 and renamed itself Paysafe Group, which trades on the NYSE as PSFE and also owns NETELLER and paysafecard.

How long do Skrill casino deposits and withdrawals take?▾

Deposits credit the casino instantly, and a casino payout lands in the player's Skrill wallet within 24 hours. Moving it on to a bank takes 1-3 business days, a withdrawal caught in re-verification sits 2-3 days in review, and the operator receives its own settlement T+1 to T+3.

Does Skrill charge a fee to withdraw casino winnings?▾

The player pays 1.75%, with a EUR 3.50 minimum, to move winnings from the Skrill wallet to a bank, and converting currency costs 3.99% for players outside the VIP tiers. The operator's payout into the wallet runs through the Automated Payments Interface at a price set per merchant.

How long does it take to add Skrill to a casino cashier?▾

A direct Quick Checkout build takes 1-2 weeks, and an operator on SoftSwiss, EveryMatrix, Slotegrator or Nuvei turns on the pre-built connector in hours. Merchant onboarding for iGaming takes 3-6 weeks and covers UBO verification, a gambling license check, financial documents and AML and responsible gambling policies, so an operator that files those upfront shortens it.

Can a casino accept crypto through Skrill?▾

No. Skrill settles nothing on-chain for operators and carries no stablecoin payments, and the 40+ coins in a player's wallet stay there for trading. A crypto cashier adds CoinsPaid at 0.8-1% or NOWPayments at 1%, both of which take on-chain deposits for the casino.

Which countries accept Skrill?▾

Skrill works in 200 countries, and its players are densest in the UK, Germany, the Nordics, Greece, Spain, Italy and the Czech Republic. US casinos and sportsbooks can take it only in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Michigan and West Virginia, and the Skrill Prepaid Mastercard goes only to EEA and UK residents.

Does Skrill support Pix or OXXO?▾

No. Skrill carries neither Pix nor OXXO, and Brazilian law has barred betting payments on Pix and every other Brazilian rail since September 25, 2026. For OXXO a Mexican cashier pairs Skrill with AstroPay, which charges 1-2.5% and whose wallet loads through SPEI and OXXO, or with PayRetailers, which charges 1.5-3% and takes OXXO Pay cash.

Skrill vs NETELLER: which should a casino add?▾

NETELLER is free for merchants while Skrill costs 1.9-2.9% plus a fixed fee, and both run on one Paysafe back-end and settle T+1 to T+3. Skrill fits books whose sportsbook, casino and slots players sit in European retail markets, and NETELLER books with poker, forex and high-stakes players.

Skrill vs MiFinity: which wallet is better for a casino?▾

MiFinity settles T+1 against Skrill's T+1 to T+3 and charges players a 2.99% FX markup against Skrill's 3.99%. MiFinity is a UnionPay Principal Member, and Skrill holds gaming supplier approval in four US states. MiFinity fits China-facing volume and operators that want T+1 settlement, and Skrill fits European books, and US books in those four states, whose players already hold it.

Skrill vs paysafecard: which should a casino add?▾

Skrill charges the operator 1.9-2.9% plus a fixed fee and settles T+1 to T+3, while paysafecard charges 9.5-15% by volume and settles T+14 or T+21. paysafecard absorbs chargebacks on its prepaid vouchers and fits players who want anonymous cash deposits, and Skrill fits players who fund a wallet by bank or card.

Can Skrill freeze a casino's funds?▾

Yes. Skrill can hold a merchant balance for up to 180 days while a fraud or AML investigation runs, separately from its 10% rolling reserve. IP mismatches, unusual velocity, ownership inconsistencies and sanctions hits trigger those holds, and Skrill sets the timeline after the merchant submits documents to rebut the investigation.

Our Verdict on Skrill

Final read for iGaming operators

Adding Skrill reaches depositors who already hold the wallet, and their transfers carry no chargeback for the operator. The operator spends 1.9-2.9% plus a fixed fee on each deposit, and separately part of its Skrill volume sits in a rolling reserve that the operator gets back as the window moves. The call turns on the share of the book's depositors who already hold Skrill.

Strongest

Skrill has served casino and sportsbook players since 2002, and bet365, William Hill and 888 chose it more than 15 years ago and still run it in their cashiers.

Limitation

During a fraud or AML investigation Skrill can freeze the operator's funds for up to 180 days, on top of the rolling reserve, and it sets the release timeline itself.

Recommendation

Add Skrill if you run a European book, or a US book licensed in one of its four states, whose depositors already hold the wallet. On a direct Skrill merchant agreement, fix the reserve duration before launch, because the reserve is the term that ties up your money.

Skrill vs. Alternatives

When another rail does the same job better, and what pairs with it

Operators that want a second European wallet with no acceptance fee add NETELLER, which is free for merchants and runs on Skrill's back-end. China-facing books take MiFinity, a UnionPay Principal Member, and LATAM books take AstroPay at 1-2.5%, because players load its wallet with SPEI and OXXO cash in Mexico and Mercado Pago in Argentina. Where players pay by bank in Sweden, Finland, the UK, Germany or the Netherlands, Trustly at 0-1% or Brite at 0.5-1.5% replaces a wallet, both with no reserve. A cashier that needs card acquiring starts with Nuvei at 1.5-3.5% or Paysafe at 1-2.9% and carries Skrill as one method inside it. A crypto-first casino adds CoinsPaid at 0.8-1%.
