What the rule actually is in Chile
Our own reading, not a summary of someone else's
Online betting is still unregulated, and the courts got there ahead of Congress. In September 2025 the Supreme Court held that online gambling is illegal unless expressly authorized, then ordered internet providers to block unlicensed platforms; the orders were finalized in April 2026 and later extended to mirror domains. Betsson, Betano, Coolbet, JugaBet and Rojabet are among the sites covered, though enforcement is uneven since Subtel stepped back from policing the blocks. Bill 14.838-03 has sat in its second constitutional stage since 2022 and was given top urgency again in May 2026; as drafted it taxes 20% of gross revenue, adds VAT and a 1% responsible-gambling contribution, and requires settlement through registered payment providers. Until it passes, who processes Chilean money is the whole signal.
