iGaming payments in Slovakia

Slovakia runs an open EU licensing market with no cap on the number of licenses. The Office for the Regulation of Gambling (ÚRHH) supervises it under the Ministry of Finance, and the current framework has been in force since March 2019. Slovak companies and companies from other EU states can apply, and a foreign applicant first registers a representative with ÚRHH. Since January 1, 2026, ÚRHH has published a weekly list of unlicensed gambling offers (Act 261/2025). Slovak banks, payment institutions and e-money institutions must refuse payments to the accounts and merchant IDs on the list, and internet providers must block the listed sites, with no court order needed. Internet providers that ignore the list face fines of up to EUR 500,000.
