The rule in Tanzania

Regulator, licensing and what it means for payments

The Gaming Board of Tanzania licenses operators, and mobile money carries the whole market. Online betting and casino are taxed at 25% of GGR after sports betting moved off a 6% levy on stakes, and land-based casinos pay 18%. Tanzania dropped the proposed 5% excise on betting stakes from the Finance Act 2026. Deposit costs come out of revenue already taxed at 25%, and a direct mobile-money integration is where an operator cuts them.
